THE future is a dangerous place, according to a new internet viral which looks at what Hollywood has predicted for humanity.

2001: A Space Odyssey may have been wide of the mark but if Roland Emmerich's disaster movie 2012 is accurate then we have just over a year left to live.

2012, I Am Legend: In the Will Smith film zombies take over the world, while in blockbuster 2012 earthquakes and tsunamis see humans fleeing for escape ships.

2013, Escape From LA: In the Kurt Russell movie Los Angeles is a lawless open jail. Booze and cigarettes have been banned in the rest of the United States and we have holographic projectors.

2015, Back To The Future 2: We travel on hoverboards and Jaws 19 is on at the cinema.

2017, Surrogates: Androids have all the fun – on our behalf.

2027, Children Of Men: Mankind will die out in less than a century due to mass infertility.

2029, Terminator: A cyborg is sent back to 1984 to murder the mum-to-be of a future resistance leader to preserve the machines' domination of the planet.

2032, Demolition Man: Cop Sly Stallone and gang boss Wesley Snipes are defrosted to wreak havoc in a non-violent future where swearing is illegal.

2035, 12 Monkeys: A virus drives humans underground.

2054, Minority Report: PreCrime law enforcers catch murderers before they commit the crime and computer screens are controlled by hand movements – a bit like with Xbox Kinect, I suppose.
